GAME BOARD

Final Board

Ultimate draft of Total DRED's board and map. Players each have starting positions in their own corner of the map. Final placement of resources and block points, designed to drive players to specific points of interest so they fight early. This was successful and with the extra cheat-sheet for each player at their corner, games began quickly and players engaged in combat quickly. Games lasted 30-45 minutes which was the goal.

First Board

All resources (outlined boxes) were easily accessible to all players. Only 1 resource (energy) for the game. Games only lasted 5-10 minutes and players felt too cramped. Rules were still in early development.

Second Board

Added 2nd kind of resource (supply) to limit player forces and give players incentive to grow armies quickly. Increased board size and changed spaces on the board from squares to hexagons, making them more versatile for movement. Enlarged middle cornucopia of resources. Games only lasted 10-15m and players felt that going to the center was the only effective strategy. Players would consult rule book more often than desired.

Third Board

Enlarged the board, made spaces that are "baracades" that players must go around. Created different choke points and points of interest to encourage player combat. Basic rule & space guide on board for player reference. Smaller central cornucopia to lessen dominate strategy of rushing the center. Centeral resources, however, are worth 2x the rest and are designated by red and black.
